Educational Objectives:

After attending these sessions, participants should be able to:
  • Use clinical guidelines to manage the patient with atrial fibrillation.
  • Use clinical guidelines to manage the post MI patient with heart failure.
  • Use risk stratification in the determination of therapeutic intervention options.
  • Use current clinical guidelines the management and treatment of thyroid disorders and osteoporosis.
  • Make evidence-based decisions in the management of glycemic control.
  • Reduce cardiovascular risk in the patient with diabetes or insulin resistant. Use knowledge gained through case studies to develop effective treatment strategies for patients with various endocrine disorders.
  • Recognize the early signs of autism and refer suspected children for comprehensive evaluation and treatment.
  • Make evidence-based decisions regarding whether to pursue treatment of a seemingly developmentally delayed infant.
  • Distinguish ADHD from other behavioral disorders in preschoolers.
  • Practice safe, effective pharmacotherapy in geriatric patients.
  • Counsel family members and caregivers of geriatric patients in the areas of fall prevention and decubitus prevention and treatment.
  • Differentiate between health conditions caused by poor nutrition and those that are not.
  • Differentiate between that which is normal in aging and that which is not.
  • Practice safe, effective pharmacotherapy in geriatric patients.
  • Counsel family members and caregivers of geriatric patients in the areas of fall prevention and decubitus prevention and treatment.
  • Recommend when, how, and why to optimize nutrition in elderly patients.
  • Differentiate between that which is normal in aging and that which is not and promote healthy aging.
